Sri Ramakrishna in the Company of Devotees:- At the outset let us recapitulate happened on M.’s fourth visit to Dakshineswar. The Master was supposed to go to Balaram Bose’s house in a few days, & he asked M. to come also. M. initially agreed, but then thought that if the house belonged to a rich man, might not be allowed to enter. That is way he said to the Master: ‘Perhaps the house you asked me to go to belongs to a rich man. they may not let me in . I think I had better not go. I would rather meet you here.’ But the Master assured him, saying: ‘Oh, not! Just mention my name. Say that you want to see me; then someone will take you to me.’ GOSPEL:- The Master had gone to Prankrishna Mukherjee’s house in Calcutta. Many of Prankrishna’s neighbours had also come to see the Master & hear his words. Spiritual topics were being discussed. Wherever the Master went, people would flock to him, eager his words. His words touched their hearts. He did not speak in an artificial way, nor did he go into the subtleties of abstruse scriptural passages. He did not use high-sounding words. His language was simple. His similes based on day-to-day occurrences. When one tries to speak in s scholarly way, even simple things are in a roundabout way. Maybe there is a need for this also. Those who are acquainted with the terminology of the Nyaya philosophy know that even to state pages. An adjective is added & someone points out an error in it. Then another adjective is added to rectify this error. When this adjective is also found to be inaccurate, another adjective is added. In this way a host of adjectives are added. But what remains in the end? Zero. Nothing of it can be understood. Sen & the Brahmos:- How deep & loving was the Master’s relationship with Keshab, how much the latter had been influenced by him, to what a great extent the Master was responsibe for the edifying changes in Keshab’s life during his last few years—all this has been discussed. The Attainment of Satchidananda Leads to Sawmdhi:- At Dakshineswar, the Master was explaining the phenomenon of Samadhi. Needless to say, he was not doing this by going into the intricacies of the path of yoga. His listeners were not acquainted with the Yoga philosophy. That is why he explained this difficult thing in a simple way. Lovers of God do not Belong to any Caste:- The Master had come to Balaram Bose’s house after watching the circus at the Maidan & was enhahed in a spiritual discussion with the devotees. The conversation turned to the caste-system. The Master said: ‘The caste-system can be removed by one means only, & that is the love of God. Lovers of Dod do not belong to any caste. The Mind, Body, & soul of a man become purified through divine love.’ At that time the topic of the caste-system was agitating people. But it is not that it does not do so even now. The Brahmo Samaj had also started a movement against the caste-system, & thus this topic had assumed importance. On one hand the Brahmos were trying to remove the caste-system, and on the other orthodox were trying to hold on to it. According to the Master, the caste-system can be removed only by means of love of God. If we try to remove it in any other way, it will only change its form.
