PHILOSOPHY OF BHAKTI:- Bhakti is devotion or unselfish love. This is the literal meaning of the word. It comes from the root ‘bhaj’ — to serve or be deeply interested in. bhakti is, therefore, an intense attachment to God or deep interest in God & things concerned with God. The innate nature of all beings is to love an external object. We cannot but love or cherish something in the heart. The Absolute alone exists. Love for external things is an unconsctions internal urge to become unified with everything. For in reality man is everything, the Absolute Itself. Man is only an ego apparently separated from it. Love is theforerunner of experience. Love is the craving; experience is the fulfillment of it. None can live without love for something. What is Love:- Love is a mysterious divine glue that unites the hearts of all. It is a divine magical healing belm of a very high potency. A life without faith, love & devotion is a dreary waste. It is real death. Love is divine. Love is the greates force on earth. It is irresistible. It is love alone that can really conquer the heart of a man. Love subdues an enemy. Love can tame wild animals. Its power is infinite; its depth is unfathomable; its nature is ineffable; its glory is indescribable. He who possesses even a ray of this is a veritable god on earth. He is a mighty potentate. St. Paul says: “Though I speak with the tongues of men & of angels, if I have on love I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have gift of prophecy & understand all mysteries & all knowledge though I have all faith so that I could move mountains, & have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed poor though I give my body to by burned, & have not love, it profits me nothing.” Love —The Goal of Life:- True religion does not consist of ritualistic observances, baths & pilgrimages, but in loving all. Cosmic love is all-embracing & all-inclusive. No one is shut out from the warm embrace of pure love. It is wide enough to include the humblest of us—from the tiny ant to the mighty elephant, from the condemned prisoner to the mighty emperor, from the worst scoundrel to the reputed saint—on the surface of this earth. It is hatred that separates man from man, nation from nation & country. It is pride & country from country. It is pride & egoism that divied one man from another man. Hatred, pried & egoism & mental creations. They are the products of ignorance only. They cannot stand before pure love. Just as darkness is dispelled by the penetrating rays of the burning sun, so also jealousy, hatred & egoism are dispelled by the rays of divine love. GOD EXISTS:- Atheists want proofs for the existence of God. Can they give proof for the non-existence of God? No one had succeeded in showing proofs that God does not exist. Even many educated men now say boldly that there is no God, that everything in this world goes on & evolves according to definite laws. Can law arise by itself? Can any law come out of nothing? Surely there must be an ultimate cause. That is God. That is the supreme Brahman or the Absolute. God is self existent Being. He is infinitely powerful, wise & good. The world is an effect & so must have an efficient cause. A finite agent cannot create this universe with its variety, vastness & orderliness. The efficient cause must be an agent who possesses infinite knowledge & power. Such an omniscient omnipotent being is God. Many Gods: Different Aspects of One Reality:- Hindus worship many gods, but they are all different aspects of the one Reality. There are many gods in the Vedas. (In the scriptures of other religions they are known as angels.) TheUpanishads profess only one God—Brahman. God is certainly one; He has no second. The absolute Reality must be one; there cannot be two absolutes.
